Cairo - Arab Today
The Interior Ministry announced on Thursday that security forces have arrested two terror cells in Menoufia governorate.
In a press release, the ministry said the forces arrested five defendants over plotting to committing crimes, preparing hotbeds to manufacture and store explosives which they were intending to use in terror attacks against police and army forces as well as vital facilities.
Earlier, investigations revealed that a number of members of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood have formed two cells in Menoufia to practice terror attacks.
The forces arrested some of the terror cells' members and seized 11 machine guns, 33 explosives and 1,036 bullets during a security campaign, the statement further said.
This comes within the ministry's efforts to arrest MB members and cadres who target citizens and security apparatus and facilities nationwide.
The Muslim Brotherhood was designated as a terrorist organization in December 2013 over committing violent acts following the dispersal of Rabaa and Nahda sit-ins in August of the same year.
Many of its leaders and members were jailed and convicted in violence crimes.
