The Iraqi army regained control on Bu Bakr and Bu Awaad areas linking Diyala and Saladin provinces after a security operation against the terrorist Daesh group.
A group of the Iraqi army, backed by aircraft, swept the area from Daesh militants and regained control the area, read a statement by the Iraqi Defense Ministry.
The freed zone will be a launching base for other operations against the terrorist group, the statement said.
Also, armed forced backed by Sunni and Shiite tribes cleaned Al Baghdadi district in the western province of Anbar, the ministry added.
