Iraqi President Fouad Maasum asserted on Sunday that his country is keen on boosting the ties with Kuwait in a way that serves the two countries' mutual interests.
Maasum thanked Kuwait for its approval to postpone payment of the last installment of Iraqi reparations, describing that step as being important in light of the fierce war launched by the Iraqi state against the Daesh terrorist group.
The Iraqi president made the remarks during his meeting with visiting Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah and his accompanying delegation in Al Salam Palace in Baghdad.
The two parties touched on the latest political and security developments in the region and ways of bolstering bilateral ties in all fields.
The Kuwaiti delegation has sent the Kuwaiti emir and prime minister's greetings to the Iraqi president, asserting the Kuwaiti officials' desire to work with Iraq on enhancing the bilateral relations in the political, economic and investment areas.
Sabah highlighted that Kuwait is keen to bring about stability in Iraq, adding that the stability of the Iraqi security situation will reflect on the region's stability.
