Iraq needs Jordan's support to train its forces to fight against terrorism, Iraqi parliament Speaker Saleem al-Jabouri said here on Sunday.
Iraq is looking forward to Jordan's help to train its armed forces in combating terrorism and extremism, the Iraqi official said at a press conference in Amman following talks with his Jordanian counterpart Atef Tarawneh.
"The war on terrorism is ongoing and needs the cooperation of all. It is the duty of all to work together to fight terrorism and extremism and put an end to the Islamic State (IS)," he said.
He also underlined the need for training various tribes in Iraq, which, according to him, was crucial to face down the IS militant group.
During their talks, Tarawneh pledged support for Iraq, adding that terrorist groups are tarnishing the image of Islam.
"We all have to stand up to the small group of mercenaries and extremists and combat them not only militarily but also at the cultural and ideological levels," said Tarawneh.
He also voiced Jordan's support for Iraq's efforts to restore stability and security in the country.
