The closure of Turaibil border crossing with Jordan is temporary due to Daesh, Iraqi Interior Ministry's spokesman said Thursday.

Saad Maan said the measure was taken as Daesh terrorist group is making use of the crossing.

Safwan border crossing will be used as an alternative till security is restored in Ramadi, the capital of Anbar.

Joint Iraqi forces, comprising of army, special forces, federal police, and Shiite militias, launched Monday an operation to retake Anbar governorate from Daesh.
