The Iraqi Cabinet at a meeting on Tuesday under Prime Minister Hayder Abbadi approved a draft law on setting up the national guard.
The draft law sets the rules of forming the force of the national guard from the Iraqi people and tribes.
The blueprint will be referred way to the parliament for ratification, said Cabinet spokesman Rafed Jabouri.
Also, the Cabinet approved a draft law on banning the Iraqi Baath party, added the spokesman.
