Governor of Iraqi Anbar Province Souheib al Rawi escaped assassination on Sunday when Daesh mortar shells targeted his convoy in central Ramadi city.

Al Rawi was en route to a security meeting in Ramadi, a security source said.

The governor and his companions escaped the attack unharmed.
