An Iraqi Yezidi delegation hailed Egyptian Abdel Fattah El Sisi for receiving Yazidi Iraqi woman Nadia Murad and his concern with their humanitarian cause.

The delegation met Saturday with Egypt's Ambassador in Baghdad Ahmed Darwish to deliver a letter to Sisi in this regard.

They urged the Arab League and the international community to pay more attention to violations committed by Daesh against Yazidis in Iraq.

Darwish told MENA that the delegation comprised senior Yezidi figures.

A week ago, Sisi met with Nadia Murad who has been freed from the terrorist group of Daesh.

Murad thanked Sisi on behalf of all Yazidi people for accepting her demand to meet him. She also appreciated Egypt's role in the Islamic world and in combating terrorism and radicalism.

Sisi reiterated Egypt's condemnation of acts and forms of terror committed by Daesh in the name of Islam, which, he said, prioritizes the values of tolerance and mercy.

The president renewed Egypt's support to the Iraqi people, noting that Al Azhar exerts strenuous efforts to correct misconceptions on Islam that have been exploited to commit brutal acts.

Sisi added that the Islamic civilization accepted over the history all other religions and their followers.
