The Shiite National Iraqi Alliance (NIA) named the Deputy Parliament Speaker Dr. Haider Al-Abadi as its nominee for the premiership to replace the current Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki.
In a press statement, the NIA said it has sent an official letter to Iraqi President Fuad Massoum on this regard.
It noted that the NIA has the largest number of members in the parliament, thus it is entitled to choose the nominee for the prime minister.
