Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Mohamed Abdel Atty received a report on efforts exerted by the National Water Research Center (NWRC) to fight water weeds in Uganda.

These efforts fall within the framework of cooperation projects between Egypt and Uganda, including a project carried out by the NWRC-affiliated Channel Maintenance Research Institute to control a new type of floating water weeds in Kyoga and Albert lakes in Uganda. 

There is a plan of action to fight this new type of weeds in the two lakes, the minister said, adding the plan aims at using these weeds in the production of biogas.
