President of Cairo University Gaber Nassar stressed on Tuesday that Islam calls for equality between Muslims and non-Muslims.
On the fringe of his participation in the World Conference on Religious Minorities, currently held in Morocco, Nassar said the Islamic law has maintained rights of minorities and ordered Muslims to deal with them in an appropriate manner.
Islam acknowledges the freedom of faith and urges Muslims to accept it, he noted.
Under the Islamic law, non-Muslims can freely exercise social and political rights and enjoy a decent life, Nassar added.
