Prosecutors ordered on Thursday remanding a leader of Al Gamaa al Islamiya (or the Islamic group) into custody for 15 days pending investigations on violence charges.

Essam Derbala was arrested Wednesday upon an order by the supreme state security prosecution.

Derbala is accused of leading an illegal group aiming disrupting the constitution and preventing the state institutions from assuming their work.

He was nabbed with violence-inciting leaflets in his possession.

Derbala denied all accusations leveled against him.
