Israeli forces on Sunday shot dead a Palestinian man after he allegedly stabbed an Israeli settler near Ofer checkpoint, southwest of Ramallah, Israel Radio reported.

Tensions have been high since Jewish extremists torched a Palestinian home in the West Bank last month, killing an 18-month-old toddler and his father.

The mother and 4-year-old brother remain in critical condition.
