Israeli soldiers on Friday shot two suspected armed infiltrators from Syria trying to breach the fence to the Golan Heights, the military said. Local media said the two were killed instantly. "Soldiers detected two armed suspects infiltrating into Israel and tampering with the infrastructure of the Israeli-Syrian border of the Golan Heights," the Israel Defense Force said in a statement issued overnight. "The Israeli army opened fire, hits were confirmed." No information was disclosed on the identity or the injuries of the suspects, but the Israeli news website Ynet reported that the military didn't attempt an arrest procedure and used precision fire to hit the two suspects, who were instantly killed. Israel seized the Golan Heights in the 1967 Middle East War. It later annexed it in a move that is not recognized by the international community.
