The joint Egyptian-Tunisian committee, which is due to be held within the upcoming two weeks, will contribute to boosting bilateral ties in the coming period, especially in the economic field, said Egypt's Ambassador in Tunis Ayman Musharafa.

In exclusive statements to MENA correspondent here Saturday, Musharafa said that the joint panel will work to remove obstacles facing the investors in the two countries.

It will also discuss ways of facilitating joint trade movement, he added.

The volume of trade exchange between the two countries stands at about 300 million dollars, noted the ambassador.

There are 21 panels which will discuss a number of joint agreements in the fields of investment, international cooperation, tourism, culture and youths, he said.

Five agreements have been finalized and preparations are underway for other agreements, he added.

The joint panel will also discuss a host of issues of mutual interest, including the situation in Libya and ways of combating terrorism.

The joint Egyptian-Tunisian panel will be held in Tunisia on September 8 under the chairmanship of Egypt's Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and his Tunisian counterpart Habib Essid. The panel will be preceded by experts' committee meetings on September 5-7.
