Amman - KUNA
The Jordanian military has confirmed that one of its warplanes was shot down when it was carrying out a military mission over northern Syria against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
The pilot was captured by the ISIL, a Jordanian military source was quoted by Jordan's official news agency (Petra) as saying.
The source accused the ISIL of having committed many criminal operations in Syria and Iraq, including destruction and killing of innocent Muslims and non-Muslims.
The official source also held the ISIL responsible for ensuring the safety of the captured pilot. The group earlier said it had shot down the jet near the city of Raqqa .
