A pickup truck loaded with drugs and ammunition has been destroyed by Jordanian border guard while trying to cross the border from Syria, said a statement released by the Jordanian army.

"The truck was spotted and destroyed by the border guard, but the smuggler managed to flee," said the statement.

Jordan has a 378-km-border with war-torn Syria. It has put its border troops on alert to combat illegal refugees or smuggling acts.
