Iraqi authorities closed border crossings with Jordan until further notice, said an official source in the kingdom on Thursday.

Passengers and drivers willing to travel to Iraq should not head for the borders until a new decision is issued by the Iraqi authorities, the source in statements to the Jordanian news agency.

Karameh Border Crossing is the only border crossing between Jordan and Iraq. It has been closed many times over the past period due to the deteriorating security in Iraq and the control of Daesh militant group over many swaths of Iraqi territories.
