Minister of State for Media Affairs and government spokesman, Mohammed Al Momani, on Thursday, reaffirmed Jordan's readiness to release prisoner Sajeda Al Rishawi, in exchange for captive Jordanian pilot Muath Al Kasasbeh.
Kasasbeh was recently captured by ISIS after his fighter jet crashed over Raqqa, Syria.
Al Momani told Petra, "We requested proof that Kasasbeh is alive but we haven't received such proof, and we insist on this." He added, "We want to make sure that he is alive in order to complete the pledge we made yesterday, to swap prisoner Sajeda Al Rishawi with the pilot." The spokesman pointed out that the efforts of the Jordanian state and all its bodies are going on since the first day of the crisis after the jet crash, and there is a follow-up at the highest levels around the clock.
The minister said, "Our emotions are certainly with the family of the hero fighter pilot," stressing that Jordan, throughout its history, has witnessed numerous crises, and has always overcome them firmly, strongly and courageously." "This is our history, and this is what will happen and we will overcome this crisis with the grace of God, the determination and awareness of the Jordanian people, concerted efforts and their support for the Hashemite leadership and its armed forces," he added.
