Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Monday asserted that the Jordanian-Iraqi relations are "excellent and strong" throughout the history of the two countries.
The remarks were made during the premier's meeting with Head of the Iraqi Business Council Maged el Saeidi and his accompanying delegation including members of the Iraqi parliament, Iraqi unions and societies representing the private sector in Iraq and abroad. The Iraqi delegation is holding a meeting in Amman to discuss establishing an Iraqi economic forum.
In statements during the meeting, the Jordanian prime minister asserted that Jordan was keen on continuing strong relations with Iraq and would back the options of the Iraqi people.
Ensour reiterated that Jordan adopted a policy of non-interference in the affairs of neighboring countries. He also welcomed the meeting of representatives of the Iraqi private sector in Amman, noting that his country was ready to offer all necessary facilities for the Iraqi businessmen.
The Jordanian premier also pointed out that the Jordanian economic system is open and its banking systems are safe, a matter which provides fairness in business practices in Jordan.
Head of the Iraqi Business Council Maged el Saeidi praised the strong backing of the Jordanian government to Iraqi businessmen and investors. He said the Iraqi economic forum aims at uniting efforts of the private sector in confronting the economic challenges facing Iraq as a result of oil prices reduction which harmed the state budget.
