The Lower House Speaker, Atef Tarawneh, on Monday, received the Algerian Ambassador, Sidi Mohamed Gaouar, and the Tunisian ambassador to Jordan, Afifah Al Mallah.
During a meeting with the Algerian ambassador, Tarawneh stressed the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation that combine the two brotherly countries under the respective leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, and called for developing bilateral relations in various fields to reflect the spirit of brotherhood between the two countries.
Tarawneh reviewed the situation in the region, stressing that Jordan is an "oasis of security and stability" in a turbulent region " noting the Kingdom's efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, in hosting Syrian refugees whose presence has negatively affected Jordan's resources.
The Speaker pointed to the importance of exchanging experiences and visits, and activation of parliamentary committees between the two countries.
The Algerian ambassador praised the level of Jordanian-Algerian relations in various fields. He valued His Majesty the King's efforts and his supportive stances towards Algeria.
Tarawneh also met with Tunisian ambassador Afifah Al Mallah and extended his congratulations on holding the first democratic presidential elections in Tunisia.
Al Mallah expressed her appreciation of Jordan's leadership and people in the context of their supportive stances towards Tunisia and its people, in addition to the Kingdom's support to issues involving Arab rights.
She called for the promotion and development of bilateral relations, particularly the parliamentary committees to serve the two countries and their peoples.
