Salama Hammad

Jordanian Interior Minister Salama Hammad left here Monday for Tunisia to lead his country's delegation to the meetings of the 33rd session of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council slated for Wednesday.

The meetings aim at probing means to boost joint Arab security cooperation and ensuring the security of Arab citizens, Hammad said in statements.

The agenda of the 33rd session involves a report submitted by Secretary General on Secretariat General's activities and results of implementing decisions taken during last year's 32nd session.

This week's session will also tackle another report about the achievements of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences and its training courses.

Hammad, meanwhile, stated that the meetings will discuss a draft of a security agreement between Arab League member states as well as review a number of annual reports on implementing Arab security plans and strategies agreed earlier by the council.

Recommendations issued after security meetings and conferences, held last year to discuss the financial and administrative framework of the Secretariat General, are set to be approved during this week's session, Hammad added.

The interior ministers' two-day meetings will be attended by a host of Arab interior ministers, Arab security delegations and representatives of Arab and international organizations.
