His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday discussed with Iraqi Vice President Iyad Allawi the state of bilateral ties and the latest developments in the Middle East.
The King and the visiting Iraqi official discussed ways to boost cooperation and coordination to fight the terrorist organizations that pose a threat to the regional countries and peoples. In this regard, the King said it was important to confront these organizations and fight their takfiri and extremist ideology.
King Abdullah also reiterated Jordan's support to efforts to bolster security and stability in Iraq, whose security and stability remain a key pillar for regional stability.
Jordan, the King added, also backs all efforts to enhance a sense of national reconciliation and unity of the Iraqi people as well as the involvement of all segments of the Iraqi society in the political process.
The meeting also touched on the latest developments in Syria as well as regional issues of mutual interest.
Allawi, on his part, expressed appreciation of the role played by King Abdullah to enhance the sense of security and stability in Iraq. Further, he reiterated his country's keenness to develop ties with Jordan to serve the two countries and their peoples' interests.
