Makkah - Arab Today
As is the custom every year during the Haj season and in accordance with the approved plan for this year 1437 AH, the General Presidency for the affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has folded up the Kiswa (the black cloth covering the Kaaba) by three meters from the ground and placed a piece of white cloth to cover the folded portion.
Director of the Kaaba Kiswa factory Mohammed Bajoudah said the measure was meant to keep the Kiswa clean as many pilgrims want to touch it for blessing or even try to cut off a piece of the cloth to take with them.
The Kiswa would be lowered down to its normal position as soon as the Haj season was over.
