The public prosecution referred elements of a terror cell to the military justice over a foiled terrorist attack against Luxor's Karnak Temple in June.

On June 10, the police prevented three gunmen from entering the grounds of the ancient Egyptian Karnak Temple, one of the top tourist destinations in the south of the country. Two attackers were killed while the third got seriously injured when a bomb carried by one of them detonated.
