A Giza court sentenced on Saturday 23 defendants to 14 years in prison each for killing the leader of the Shiite sect in Egypt Sheikh Hassan Mohamed Shehata.

Three other people were killed in the murder which occurred in a village in Abo Nomros township in Giza.

Eight other defendants were acquitted.
