His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa today reiterated Bahrain's firm resolve to protect human rights for all citizens. He commended the pivotal role of Bahraini women in their country's national history and landmark contributions and achievements in all fields.
"The first Bahraini woman joined the military in 1956", HM the King said, as he received at Sakhir Palace Dr. Salah Ali bin Abdulrahman, who presented a book titled: "Human Rights in Hamad's Era: Historic Achievements".
Compiled by the Ministry of Human Rights, the book outlines Bahrain's landmark democratic strides ever since HM the King acceded to the throne in 1999 and documents a crucial and honourable phase of Bahrain's modern history.
HM the King commended the efforts of Dr. Salah Ali to compile the book, which represents an essential reference which documents Bahrain's human rights strides. He affirmed Bahrain's full commitment to all international covenants and laws relating to human rights, being an essential part of the Islamic culture and faith. In a statement following the audience, Dr. Salah Ali said that he was honoured to meet HM the King and offer him the five-chapter book which documents Bahrain's human rights achievements.
