Ambassador Aziz al-Dihani

Kuwait's permanent delegate to the Arab League Ambassador Aziz Al-Dihani and Secretary General of the League Nabil Al-Araby discussed here on Wednesday the possibility of holding three extraordinary ministerial meetings, proposed by Kuwait, due in mid-January.
"There would be two meetings under the chairmanship of First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, followed by an emergency gathering on the level of Arab foreign ministers," Al-Dihani told reporters following the meeting.
The outcomes of the first two meetings, on Arab Peace Initiative and the developments of the situations in Syria, would be referred to the foreign ministers' meeting for approval, he noted.
He stressed that the aim of Kuwait's efforts is to follow up on the developments of the Palestinian issue and the current consultations about the Arab draft resolution submitted to the UN Security Council to set a timeframe to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.
These efforts aim also to pursue the developments of situations in Syria, he said, noting that he briefed Al-Araby on the results of consultations and efforts in line with relevant Arab League resolutions.
He said that the situations in Syria are "alarming to all Arab countries", noting that it is important to hold a meeting on these situations to discuss the humanitarian catastrophe that Syrians face.
