Kuwait - KUNA
The Government, represented by Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Homoud Al-Sabah, will take all legal action against those who jeopardize the national unity of this country, Minister of oil reiterated Tuesday.
This remark was made by Dr. Ali Al-Omair, who is also Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs, during the National Assembly regular session that focused on tackling incoming correspondence.
Al-Omair also touched on the strike carried out by the union of the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS) that had been discussed by the cabinet and the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
He noted that the demands of the union should not be approved without scrutiny.
Nonetheless, the Minister pointed out that if the strike was to be suspended, a timeframe would be set up to find a solution for this matter, as previously announced by the Minister of Finance.
On his part, Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Anad Al-Saleh said that before the protest was carried out, the government had extended a number of invitations to the union to meet and discuss their demands; there was a positive dialogue between the government and the union.
Nevertheless, the union went on protesting. The government "cannot negotiate while the strike is on," the minister stressed.
