Dead Sea - KUNA
Kuwait took part Tuesday in a regional consultation meeting for the World Humanitarians Summit ahead of the organization's grand gathering in Istanbul in 2016.
Kuwait Red Crescent Society's (KRCS) Deputy Chairman Anwar Al-Hasawi said in remarks to KUNA that this meeting would work to achieve further cooperation and exchange of expertise regarding the international strategies in the humanitarian field.
KRCS is capable and ready for group work in coordination with global humanitarian specialized bodies in order to unit positions towards humanitarian work issues, Al-Hasawi said.
The three-day meeting will boost the humanitarian work regionally and internationally, he said.
It will be tackling a number of issues including protection of civilians, reaching the affected areas, improving emergency readiness, reducing disasters' risks, as well as adjustment and response to long-term crisis, besides further cooperation and coordination in the field of humanitarian work, he added.
Al-Hasawi stressed the importance of spreading awareness between governmental and public humanitarian institutions in the Arab World of the need to take part in this upcoming global summit.
