First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah met here on Wednesday with the caretakers of the recent global tour known as the Journey of Hope which promoted the cause of the mentally-challenged.
The Minister discussed the sailing tour with chairman and members of the board of trustees undertaking the global trip and with the crew of the boat making that trip.
He underscored the notion that the long trip around the world to bring attention to the cause of the mentally-challenged reflected the government's penchant to serve the needs of that sector of society which requires encouragement to be assimilated into the workforce and be productive.
He recalled the commendations regarding the trip from officials of the ports of calls which the boat making the trip stopped at in numerous countries, saying that the Journey of Hope gave the world a luminous picture of Kuwait as a country that cares for the disadvantaged such as those with mental disabilities.
He noted that the boat trip dovetailed nicely with the occasion of the UN honoring His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah with the title of a Humanitarian Leader and Kuwait as a Humanitarian Center.
On his part, executive director of the Journey of Hope mission and secretary of the board of trustees Yousif Al-Jassim, present in the meeting with the Minister, thanked on behalf of the boat's crew all the efforts of the Minister in instructing Kuwaiti embassies abroad to offer all help to the crew in their months long tour of so many ports of call in numerous countries.
