MP Ahmad Suleiman Al-Githeebi

Head of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Parliamentary Coordination and Foreign Affairs Committee on Sunday called for boosting parliamentary and legislative ties among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
MP Ahmad Suleiman Al-Githeebi made the call today on the sidelines of the GCC Parliamentary Coordination and Foreign Affairs Committee in Doha.
The Doha gathering discussed arrangements and the agenda of the 8th meeting of heads of the GCC legislative councils, also to be held in Qatari capital, 30 November -1 December, Al-Githeebi told KUNA.
Participants also touched on coordination of the foreign media policy of the GCC legislatures, Al-Githeebi said.
He noted that Kuwait has urged speeding up efforts to draw up a strategic plan for coordination and cooperation among the bloc's parliaments, shedding more light on their legislative role.
On the proposal of forming a GCC parliamentary delegation to be entrusted with enhancing cooperation with the European Parliament, Al-Githeebi said Kuwait approved the idea that was spelled out during a visit by Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim to the EP last December.
Referring to the GCC parliamentary information network, he said that they were briefed on developments of the project, which will offer MPs and researchers access to legislations and news of the bloc's legislatures.
