Kuwait's Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim held talks with Iraq's Council of Representatives Speaker Salim Al-Jabouri in the framework of coordinative meetings on the sidelines of the 10th session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC).
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the horizons and means of supporting and developing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all domains, primarily the Islamic issues.
They focused on the latest developments on both regional and international arenas and the coordination between the two legislative councils at all international forums.
They also tackled the latest development of security situation in the region and underlined the importance of unifying and coordinating efforts to combat terrorism.
Senior MPs and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Turkey Abdullah Al-Thuwaikh were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, Al-Ghanim met with his Omani counterpart Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Maouli on the sidelines of the 10th session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) on Thursday.
They discussed bilateral relations, developing cooperation in all fields and having a unified Islamic view on recent international events.
In a related context, Secretary-General of the Kuwait's National Assembly Allam Al-Kandari said on Thursday the PUIC secretaries general stressed their adherence to a newly-established association under the Union's umbrella. Al-Kandari, the Arab parliaments' secretaries-general association, made this remark to KUNA after concluding their first meeting.
He said that conferees agreed that the committee tasked with setting up the association's the basic statute will send it's draft to the Islamic parliaments within two weeks.
The committee, proposed by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) parliaments' secretaries general, includes nine members, three from each of the Arab, Asian and African groups, in addition to Turkey, head of the current session, Al-Kandari noted.
A Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation, headed by Al-Ghanim, arrived in Istanbul on Monday to participate in the 10th session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC), which is expected to conclude today.
