Beirut - Arab Today
The Lebanese Army's intelligence Friday arrested a member of Al Nusra Front at Beirut airport, in connection with the execution of a Lebanese serviceman.
In statements to MENA, a well-placed Lebanese security source said that the terrorist, who was holding a Syrian passport, was trying to flee the country.
After nabbing him at the airport, the culprit admitted to killing the Lebanese serviceman who had been held captive by the Front and killed in September 2014.
Around 28 Lebanese servicemen had been kidnapped by extremist groups after they briefly overran the northeastern border town of Arsal in August 2014. The extremist were then forced out of the town after a five-day battle with the army.
Since then, soldiers and policemen have either been executed or released. Over 20 are still being held hostage by Daesh and the Nusra Front on the outskirts of Arsal.
