The Lebanese Army hammered militant posts on the outskirts of northeastern border towns Thursday, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The NNA said the army shelled gunmen's positions on the outskirts of Arsal and Ras Baalbek.

Intense bombing initiated during the first hours of the morning against targets in Wadi Mira and Wadi al-Kheil after relatively calm and interim fire, the report added.

The army has been pounding the area over the past few days.
