Lebanon's army said on Monday that the Israeli enemy fired artillery shells on six southern towns.

The attacked towns are al-Wazzani, al-Majidiehh, al-Abbasieh, Bustra, Helta and Mari, the army command was quoted by the state news agency NNA as saying.

In the wake of the shelling, army units were deployed in the area and took the appropriate defensive measures.

The army is currently following up the attack in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
