Lebanese interior minister Nehad al-Mashnouq

Lebanese Interior Minister Nehad al Mashnouq said that he will withdraw security forces tasked with securing protests of the civil society, due today, if the Lebanese army does not take part in securing them.

In press statements to An-Nahar Newspaper, Mashnouq said that he took this stance after receiving a negative response from the Lebanese army command about securing protests.

Mashnouq said that he raised this issue during the recent Cabinet meeting, adding that a decision in this respect was not taken due to the absence of Hezbollah group and Aoun party.
