Lebanon's Deputy PM and Minister of National Defence Samir Mokbel urged in a statement on Saturday to keep politics away from the judiciary.

The judiciary is an independent authority with its legal ways to review verdicts at the cassation court, Lebanese National News Agency quoted him as saying.

Mokbel's statement came in response to the uproar against what was construed as a lenient verdict against Michel Samaha, who admitted to taking part in terrorist activities and plots on Lebanese soil and against Lebanese citizens
