Lebanon, Salam: Electing a president restores a structural constitutional fault

Electing a new president restores a structural constitutional fault, Prime Minister Tammam Salam reiterated in his Independence Day message via the Grand Serail today. 
While such an election revives political life, blocking state functions by diminishing its prestige constitutes a crime against Lebanon, he added. Maintaining a sense of security in the country necessitates a conducive sane atmosphere, preventing the infiltration of terrorists sowing seeds of strife he said. 
Adopting audacious patriotic decisions however requires making concessions in the high interest of Lebanon, Salam went on to say. For the second year in a row, the actual presidential vacuum had far-reaching consequential damage not only on the economy but also on reflecting a negative image of Lebanon abroad, he warned. 
On the 72nd anniversary of Independence Day, we extend an unflinching hand of support for the military in their anti-terrorism fight for they've manifested once more through their blood sacrifice in the interior and on the frontline their being the ultimate bastion of the Republic, he concluded.
