Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri asserted his country's support to Saudi King Salman Bin Abdel Aziz and Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb's call to unify Arab efforts to confront terrorism and extremism.
During his speech before the 23rd Arab Inter-parliamentary Union (AIPU) conference on Sunday, Berri called for forming an operation room under the umbrella of the United Nations Security Council to face terrorism, drying up its roots and bringing terrorists to justice.
He said that Lebanon is supporting the Iraqi government, adding that there is hope for Lebanon to solve the presidency crisis.
He also asserted that legislative elections will be held in Lebanon within the upcoming few weeks.
He said Lebanon was beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel.
Berri called for supporting the Lebanese army and condemning the continuous Israeli violations against Lebanon.
He also urged to form committees to discuss the Arab customs union, Libyan crisis, Palestinian cause, human rights and the women's role in the union.
