Beirut - MENA
Speaker of Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri has called for issuing a UN resolution to stop the financing terrorism in Syria.
In a keynote speech during a reception of his Paraguayan counterpart, Hugo Velazquez, on Monday, Berri called on the UN to endorse a binding resolution to help dry sources funding terrorism, ceasing armament, and controlling different borders with Syria.
He called for supporting central government in Iraq, urging to formulate political solutions for the crises of Yemen, Syria, and Libya based on dialogue.
As for the situation in Palestine, Berri said the Palestinian cause will remain the key issue in the Middle East, slamming Israeli practices against the Palestinians.
The extremism and terrorism are derived from this cause, he stressed.
"I call the government in both countries and the competent administrations to strengthen relations between Lebanon and Paraguay on all economic, humanitarian, social, and cultural levels," he added.
