London - MENA
The airstrikes staged by the Egyptian Air Forces on the positions of Daesh terror group in Libya marks a "fresh start" for the war against terrorism, Egypt Ambassador in London Nasser Kamel said on Tuesday.
"We have been battling domestic terrorism for over two years now, and this is the first time to hit terrorists beyond our borders," he told Britain's Channel 4 TV.
"Such airstrikes are a fresh start for our anti-terror war as we decided to take the battle to the terrorists' stronghold in Derna," he said, referring to an eastern Libyan city controlled by hardline militants.
Kamel called on the international community to join Egypt in its fight against Daesh group in Libya, warning that the terror groups have extended their crimes beyond Iraq and Syria and "will, sooner or later, reach the coasts of Europe."
"We have fought Daesh in Sinai, now we are fighting them in Libya," he said.
