The Libyan army achieved victory in "al Noar and Martouba" area in Derna city, according to spokesman for Operation Omar al Mukhtar, Abdul Karim Sabra.

The northern area was freed and the Libyan army forces are advancing, said a Libyan military official in press statements on Friday.

The military operation comes after Derna residents controlled the mountainous area adjacent to Bab Tabrouk, the official underlined, noting that elements of Daesh terrorist group were forced out.

Daesh militants are now retreating while the Libyan army is advancing, he added.
