Fayez Al Sarraj, the head of the presidential council of the Libyan national unity government, telephoned Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni, a statement by the Italian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

The conversation dwelt on the latest developments in Libya, especially following the terrorist Daesh elements' attack on al Sedra oil port.

Sarraj said he was worried about intensified military actions and the progress of the terrorists towards Sirte.

For his part, the top Italian diplomat voiced his country's support of Libya in its terrorism-combat efforts.
