Libyan Presidential Council Minister Omar al Aswad on Thursday called for halting the approval of the formation of the new government announced earlier by Prime Minister-designate Fayez Serraj.

Earlier, Aswad suspended his membership prior to the government’s announcement.

In a press release, he said the selection of the government's members was not based on competence and experience criteria.

The presidential council's decision did not agree with the spirit of the law, he further said.
