Cairo - MENA
The National Council for Disability Affairs, under Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab, convened on Sunday to discuss a number of topics related to the disabled people.
Attending the meeting were the ministers of planning, health, manpower, social solidarity, education and housing, as well as the secretary general of the council.
During the meeting, the attendees tackled an initiative to provide 5,000 job opportunities for the disabled people.
Efforts to involve the disabled people in Egypt's educational and housing strategies were probed as well during the get-together.
The attendees reviewed Egypt's participation in the 2nd session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which was held earlier in New York.
A workshop will be held next week to prepare the general framework for the strategy and vision of the council, the secretary general of the council pointed out.
