Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab expressed his country's solidarity with the nations harmed by terrorism, adding that Egypt condemns all kinds of extremism.

The premier's announcement came during a remark which he gave during the report of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) at the African Summit held in Johannesburg.

He underscored that security and stability in the African continent face many challenges, noting that armed conflicts continue in Africa, a matter which harms the economic as well as the social development efforts.

Mahlab, who delivered Egypt's speech at the summit on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, said that all the countries are subject to the dangers of terrorism, because the extremists do not respect sanctity.

The terrorists also exploit that some Muslims do not know the correct teachings of Islam, he noted.

He further reiterated that fighting terrorism is not limited to the security side, but the intellectual and economic ones, calling for spreading awareness among youth.

Mahlab highlighted Al Azhar's role in spreading the moderate teachings of Islam and fighting extremist ideas.
