Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab on Saturday inspected a number of shanty towns in Manshaat Nasser, Asmarat district and Duweiqa as part of the government's efforts to move the dwellers into other safe places.
As many as 500 families are supposed to be relocated to other appropriate areas in order to carry out the government plans to reduce the number of slums set up on the outskirts of the capital.
The premier listened to the complains of the residents and followed up the destruction of unlicensed buildings and other transgressions on roads.
He briefed the residents of the buildings to be demolished that the government will guarantee them other residences and work on settling their problems.
It is the second time for the premier in a few months to inspect the construction of new housing units that were allocated for slum dwellers, especially the residents of Manshaat Naser.
