Algerian radio said Malian authorities announced the location of the wreck of an Air Algerie plane that went missing early Thursday with 116 people onboard. The plane was found in Mali near borders with Burkina Faso.
Mali President Ibrahim Boubakar Keita said that wreckage had been located between Kidal and Tessalit in the far north of the country.
Burkina Faso officials said that the plane called for changing route due to a storm at 1:38 GMT.
Algerian Transportation Minister Ammar Gol said that there is information regarding an explosion heard at the location of the crash site.
The minister said in a press conference at Algeria International Airport that the wreckage of the plane was located north of Mali, and search operations are continuing in coordination with Malian officials.
