Security forces on Friday arrested a man convicted with an assassination attempt against former interior minister Hassan Abu Basha.

Magdy el Safty was a top leader of the 'Survivors of Hell' terrorist group. He received a life sentence but escaped from hospital where he received medication in January 2011. He was hiding in a building in Qalubiya.

Meanwhile, as part of a nationwide security plan, 16 members of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood were nabbed.

Also, eight Brotherhood members were arrested in campaigns launched in Cairo, Kafr el Sheikh, Suez, Beni Suef, Assiut and Qena.
